Lincoln Austin

Ipswich-based artist Lincoln Austin is primarily a sculptor, and his work crosses the boundaries of two- and three-dimensionality investigating the blurred boundaries between ideal and physical realities. Through geometry, pattern, systems and repetition Lincoln Austin engages with the formality of mathematics, the poetic of metaphor and the potential of material. Austin’s abstract sculptures meld the interests of minimalism and op art to explore the ways regular, repeated forms can generate optical illusions and effects. Austin’s works range in scale and process markedly; from mammoth public art projects through to delicate, intricate constructions.
