Stephanie Deumer
Stephanie Deumer (b.1989, Oakville, Ontario, Canada) is a visual artist currently living and working in Los Angeles. Comprised of video, sculpture, and photography, her installations often incorporate their environment by using recordings and photographs from their surroundings. Much of her work presents women subjectively experiencing and interacting with their representations, and simultaneously expresses the mise en abyme of their objectification in infinite replications. Deumer completed a BA at the University of Guelph in 2011 and an MFA at California Institute of the Arts in 2015. From 2018-2019 she was a fellow at the Whitney Independent Study Program in New York. She is the recipient of a 2019 Research and Creation Grant from Canada Arts Council, and has participated in residencies at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Cerritos College, and The REEF in Los Angeles.
