Claes Oldenburg and the late Coosje van Bruggen are widely considered to be one of the 20th century’s most influential artists duos. For over three decades Oldenburg and van Bruggen created acclaimed large-scale artworks that activated and enchanted public spaces. Showcasing several sculptures that span their professional and romantic partnership, “Claes & Coosje: A Duet” served as a moving exhibition that celebrated their creative spirits and artistic achievements.

Presented by Pace Gallery in the Spring of 2021, the exhibition included the duo’s final work together, ‘Dropped Bouquet.’ The monumental aluminum sculpture was initially conceived for the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s sculpture garden but was never realized. Instead, ‘Dropped Bouquet’ made its debut in Pace’s New York Gallery, serving as focal point for the exhibition.

From scanning and enlarging the original maquette, to casting, fabricating, and painting the aluminum flowers, UAP was engaged throughout the design coordination and construction of this show-stopping installation.
