#Felled

Penny Byrne worked with UAP to fabricate felled. Shown at Fehily Contemporary in Melbourne, felled is UAP’s second collaboration with the artist and continues Byrne’s exploration in large scale sculpture.

Inspired by a newspaper image that reminded her of The Dying Gaul, a classical Greek marble sculpture, felled is a large scale sculpture of a policeman, slumped in the gutter after being felled by a hurled brick. The work continues Byrne’s inquiry into international politics and protests, and combines classical language with current political concerns. Byrne collaborated with UAP to handcraft a clay model which was then cast in bronze and finished with satin black patina.

UAP is proud to have funded the first edition of this work.
