Alexander Knox
#Light, Liquid, Vapour
SHANGHAI, CHINA
Alexander Knox is known for his kinetic sculptures and facade artworks, drawing upon influences from nature, history and the contemporary world. As part of a new mixed-use development in Shanghai, China, Knox was curated to create a site-specific wall sculpture to enliven a high traffic foyer within the development. The resulting work — titled Light, Liquid, Vapour — subtly animates as people move through the space, creating a visual impact that echoes the natural world phenomena of light reflecting on moving cloud and water.
UAP collaborated with the artist to develop, fabricate and install the artwork using aluminium with hand-polished surfaces. The piece achieves geometric precision through computational design tools, creating a complex interplay of curved surfaces.
