UAP Design

UAP was selected from over 100 international tenders to design iconic artworks to mark each of the eight main entry gates to Shanghai World Expo. The exuberant, inspiring and playful artworks which included fireworks, giant toys and straw-hat inspired sculptures, provided a memorable and momentous arrival experience to the Expo and functioned practically as landmarks or meeting points during the Expo visit.

Visitors were attracted to the artworks and often spent time exploring, playing and having pictures taken. Through this interaction, visitors were able to build personal connections with the artworks. UAP’s design team developed the concepts for the semi-permanent artworks and oversaw their fabrication through an international network of
skilled fabricators.
