On October 18th, Chengdu Poly Time Edition officially opened, aiming to establish a vibrant social space that promotes [A social scene leading a cutting-edge lifestyle]. Chengdu, a city rich in history and charm. The project is located in the Hi-Tech District's CBD and benefits from excellent traffic and road access. It features a composite block covering over 100,000 square meters, with a central plaza of more than 27,000 square meters, serving as a tranquil gathering spot in the southern CBD. The development boasts a green space rate of nearly 40% and an ecological landscape that rivals that of a park. A key highlight is the sculpture installation titled "The Shape of Time," thoughtfully integrated into the expansive open space, with UAP honored to have designed, fabricated, and installed this artwork.

At the beginning of the project, the UAP team analyzed Chengdu Poly Time Edition with the goal of creating a design that aligns more closely with the project's original intent. With numerous competitors in the same area, it was essential to differentiate the positioning and develop an inviting space for social interaction. The nearby clientele primarily consists of business professionals and white-collar homeowners who share similar desires for beauty and a high quality of life. This led to the design of the expansive public space at Poly Time Edition, intended to serve as [A social scene leading a cutting-edge lifestyle]. By identifying key themes, the UAP team created features for the public space that promote interaction and relaxation, aiming to enhance the well-being and energy of its visitors.

The artwork features three arches of varying sizes, symbolizing the span and depth of time and illustrating the cycle of time. The UAP team has delved into the cultural essence of the Sichuan region, skillfully integrating distinctive elements of Sichuan Opera with the precise quartz drive mechanism found in quartz clocks. This combination gives the piece a unique cultural significance and artistic charm.

The lines of the artwork The Shape of Time are smooth and elegant, reminiscent of the plumes worn by actors in Sichuan Opera, showcasing a spirited beauty as they dance. These lines capture the fleeting nature of time and poetically express the delicate balance between the passage of time and eternity. Through this piece, viewers can delve deeper into the shapes and mysteries of time, uncovering the stories hidden behind everyday life, allowing each viewer to discover their own understanding of time on this journey. A unique feature of the work is the droplet shape on one side of the floor—a delicate design that enhances the narrative and exploratory nature of the piece. Its surface is finely triangularly cut, creating a dazzling visual effect when illuminated by light.

Time flows in cycles, as portrayed in the work The Shape of Time, which envelops the earth. The multimedia projections between the installations resemble a liquid quartz flowing along the ground and gradually solidifying, reflecting an alternate fantasy world. The ground projection by Radiant Energy Studio begins the narrative with a drop of water falling. The wind blows away the ripples, bringing in flower petals, and the image transitions from the texture of water waves to abstract lines and shapes. The rippling lines gradually transform into shimmering particles, and a school of golden abstract fish swims to the center of the image, slowly vanishing. From the center, a pink network of branches erupts. These branches grow and spread, evolving into imaginary plants of the future, ultimately transforming into flowing particles that gradually disperse like waves.

With its smooth lines and dynamic aesthetics, The Shape of Time captures the fleeting nature of time, merging the passage of time with the concept of eternity. The addition of ground projection enriches this work, adding visual layers and narrative depth. The sculpture resembles a water drop as it lands, while the ground projection begins with that drop; both elements empower and enhance each other. The physical form of the sculpture and the virtual imagery of the projection are intertwined, reinforcing the theme of time and expanding the viewer's perception of its form and changes. Together, they create an experience of time and space that transcends reality.
