#Girls Rule

HOBART, AUSTRALIA

In December 2020, after a nine-month closure, the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) opened its doors and debuted multiple new works, including Tom Otterness’s Girls Rule. The jovial bronze sculpture doubles as a children’s playground, inviting museum visitors to closely engage with the artwork. Not new to creating interactive public artwork, this entertaining piece adds on to Tom Otterness’s collection of public commissions that bring joy to the public.

Tom Otterness, a prolific and renowned American artist, worked with our New York foundry to realize this seven-meter-tall sculpture. From casting to finishing and patination, the artist has collaboratively worked with our Rock Tavern team for years, producing whimsical and impactful public artworks across the globe.
