#Vector Flow

CHENGDU, CHINA

Standing at 8.8metres tall Vector Flow is an interactive and towering landmark in the public plaza of Mengzhui Bay, a mixed-use urban renewal project in Chengdu, China.

Designed by multi-disciplinary artist and designer Jason Bruges, the work creates a public gathering space for locals and guests and is the designer’s first exterior permanent work in China. Comprised of stainless-steel panelling with naturalistic folds and curves, the work comes to life via digital animation and linear lighting tracks that appear to flow through the surface. State of the art sensors are employed to sample movement in the surrounding environment, influencing the language of the lighting display.

UAP developed the curatorial framework for this project and worked with Bruges on the concept, design, fabrication, and installation of the work.
