Stephen Ormandy
#Constellations
SHANGHAI, CHINA
Australian artist Stephen Ormandy’s creative practice combines geometric and lyrical forms with a unique combination of figuration and abstraction.
In 2021 Ormandy created a
twelve-piece installation titled Constellations for the refresh
of Ting Hsin’s Shanghai W Square. Each sculpture is an abstract representation
of a zodiac symbol.
Each sculpture is unique and stands at varying heights throughout the square. Made using aluminium in our Shanghai workshop, each sculpture is finished using a bold automotive paint, which is iconic to Ormandy’s creative practice.
The twelve constellation symbols originate from beings in the universe, categorized by the four natural elements - fire, earth, wind, and water.
- Stephen Ormandy, 2021
Each symbol signifies a unique legend,
as each individual carries a unique personality.
Secrets and stories are hidden behind the abstract forms, waiting to be discovered and contemplated.
A momentary encounter will bring an eternal connection.
